Common illnesses that chiropractors can treat

Chiropractic practitioners address ailments connected to the structure of your body. Their objectives include pain relief and improved function. They don’t perform any surgery or prescribed any medicine. Instead, they alter or manipulate your spine and other body components to put them in the correct posture. The foundation of chiropractic therapy is the notion that self-healing is possible when your body is in good alignment.

Learn about some of the prevalent conditions which chiropractors can treat:

Lower back ache:

One of the most frequent reasons people visits a chiropractor is for the treatment of lower back discomfort. Lower back pain is a common topic of research on spinal manipulation. Lower back pain sufferers might get some quick relief from chiropractic treatment. Chiropractic care was hailed as the best treatment for lower back pain by consumer reports as patients get relief with the added benefit of feeling happier and experiencing fewer adverse effects.

Neck pain or stiffness:

The second most common reason for patients to see chiropractors is neck stiffness. The neck adjustment or manipulation, along with exercise, may prove more successful and effective than medications. If you are experiencing neck discomfort for a long period that isn’t related to an injury, then you should give a chiropractor a try. Chiropractic treatment may help with this kind of neck discomfort.

Anxiety headache:

If you get a tension headache, a chiropractic adjustment to your neck could be helpful. Tension headaches can be brought on by stress and improper posture. Chiropractic adjustments can ease the pressure on the nervous system and may also recommend some stretching techniques. The chiropractor may also advise you to adopt a good posture and body mechanism as well as other stress- reduction and headache-relieving techniques.

Migratory headaches:

Chiropractic spine adjustment can lessen migraine discomfort and dependence on medication. Chiropractic therapy can lessen the impact of migraines by reducing general stress. A chiropractor may naturally relieve you by suggesting some exercises or certain dietary adjustments and advice on nutrition.

The sacroiliac joint pain:

At the bottom of your spine, there is a large joint called the sacroiliac joint. Different types of lower back pain result from issues with sacroiliac joints. The discomfort may be felt in the back of your thigh or buttock. Chiropractors can easily address this kind of discomfort. Additionally, you may be recommended
certain exercises to help you develop your core muscles, which are responsible for supporting this joint.

How can chiropractors ensure a healthy lifestyle?

To stay healthy, sometimes you make choices that negatively affect your physical, mental or emotional health. Chiropractic care isn’t just about healing your aches and pains. It’s about promoting overall wellness and prevention of future injuries.

A chiropractic lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle. It is about recognizing how the decisions you make throughout the day directly influence your health.

It is about putting in conscious efforts towards healthy living and wellness, rather than waiting for problems to occur. Chiropractic care helps to improve neurological health, improve physical function, and improve body flexibility. It can also help to treat pain and recurring health issues.

Read further to know more about chiropractic care and a healthy lifestyle:

Healing without drugs: chiropractic care helps to achieve overall wellness and healing without drugs or invasive medical intervention. Treatment and exercise programs provided by a chiropractor can get you back up on your feet. It can take some time, but with exercise and treatment, the body can heal itself and help you feel like yourself once again.

Proper alignment of the spine: Proper alignment of the spine and other joints can improve the overall health of the nervous system and even encourages the brain to release endorphins promoting overall wellness. If the nervous system is working properly, the brain sends out messages of happiness and wellness.

Increase flexibility: Stiff joints are far more likely to be injured and cause pain than those that have had regular care. Chiropractic care can increase your body's flexibility thereby reducing inflammation and stiffness that can build up over time. Chiropractic care can help keep joints loose. With regular chiropractic care, your body can operate in the normal healthy way it was designed to work.

Eliminate pain: Pain in any part of the body makes us feel uncomfortable and gives us a signal that something is wrong and needs to be dealt with. Chiropractic treatment can eliminate pain and helps to lessen the inflammation in the area, which makes it easier for your body to heal itself more quickly. Chiropractic treatments help people get back on track faster so they’re not slowed down by pain every day!

Strengthens the immune system: Simply, the immune system is responsible for protecting you from illness and disease, so it’s no wonder that the stronger it is, the better off you’ll be to perform any task. Chiropractic treatments improve your overall health and well-being through a variety of methods, including: Adjusting spinal joints to remove pressure on nerves and muscles Improve posture and reduce stress on muscles Treating vertebral subluxations

The earlier you start making healthy lifestyle decisions, the better it is for your health now and in
the future. Visit Sheets Chiropractic Center, a chiropractor in Mission Viejo.

Is Chiropractic for Elderly Safe?

Chiropractic is a family-oriented profession. This means that it can benefit anyone in the family-from toddlers and children to teenagers, adults, and even the elderly. Many elderly people believe that it is either too late in life to seek help for their pain issues or that chiropractic care is harmful to their elderly, frail bodies. But this is, at best, a misunderstanding. Chiropractic care can benefit people of all ages, even if you believe it is “too late.”

Chiropractic care is becoming more popular for a wide range of illnesses, not just back and neck pain. Is this type of treatment, however, appropriate for the elderly?

Pain relief for seniors
The vast majority of chiropractic patients come in because they are in pain. The fact that 80% of people will suffer from back pain at some point in their lives says it all. When you consider that the elderly become frailer as they age, it is no surprise that pain and chronic conditions like arthritis become much more common. Daily tasks may become difficult, pain may become more prevalent, and multiple medications may be required daily in many cases.
Chiropractors tailor treatments to the specific needs of each patient. This means that if gentleness is required, they will be gentle. If you have arthritis, they will abandon some techniques in favor of others. Their job is to ensure that treatment is provided, even if it is in conjunction with other types of pain relief. They will use drug-free and non-invasive methods to correct spinal subluxations and relieve pain and inflammation.

Improve range of motion, coordination, and balance
Because bones become more fragile and muscle weaker as we age, the range of motion decreases, and the balance becomes more difficult to maintain. Every year an estimated 33% of seniors fall; as flexibility and fragility increase, so does the risk of serious injury.
Chiropractic care aims to strengthen the muscles surrounding the spine and relieve pain through the use of simple daily stretches and exercises. They do not take long to complete, but they go a long way toward improving balance and decreasing the likelihood of falling. Furthermore, the exercises strengthen the muscles; they also help mitigate any severe injuries that may occur with falling.

Stay nimble

Senior citizens who received regular chiropractic care as they aged showed a reduction in the severity of arthritis. Other discoveries included:

  • Chiropractic patients were more active than non-chiropractic patients.
  • They discovered that 5 percent of older chiro patients were in nursing homes after three years of visits, compared to 48 percent of non-chiro patients.
  • Patients were less likely to seek assistance with everyday duties since they got tailored treatment and strength training outside of the chiropractor's clinic.

Help with chronic conditions
Certain conditions that affect the elderly can be treated or treated in conjunction with chiropractic care. One study followed a group of seniors with COPD to see how often they experienced adverse events as a result of the disease. These study participants had a lower number of adverse events; and a higher quality of life after four weeks of chiropractic care.

WHY IS CHIROPRACTIC IMPORTANT FOR AGING ADULTS?
Stress, wear and tear, and joint dysfunction all occur as we age. This causes a reduction in range of motion due to arthritic conditions in the joints, which reduce function and cause weakness. Joint dysfunction and “stoved” or “locked up” arthritic changes occur, as do decreased mobility and inability to participate in general activities and exercise.

Chiropractic adjustments are safe and effective methods for restoring motion, reducing pain, and resuming normal activity and exercise. In 1997, Americans paid an estimated 629 million visits to complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) practitioners, compared to 388 million visits to primary care physicians that same year. Chiropractic focuses on the underlying problem of joint and spinal nerve dysfunction, allowing you to experience improved quality of life, participation in daily activity and exercise, as well as reduced pain and increased function through chiropractic adjustments.
Before we can understand the relationship between arthritis, aging, and chiropractic care, we must first understand what coordinates all the body's functions. The spine is made of 24 moveable vertebrae that serve as a protective shell for the nervous system. The nervous system is the body's master controller, controlling all glands, organs, and functions. A subluxation occurs when the spine is out of alignment. This misalignment impairs nervous system function, causing pain and limiting joint movement, muscle stiffness, and deteriorating health.

According to research, it only takes the pressure of a dime to reduce nerve function by more than 60%. When the spine is misaligned, it restricts motion, irritates nerves, and impairs the nervous system's ability to function properly.

It's never too late to improve your range of motion, relieve discomfort, or lessen the severity of your chronic disease. Chiropractic seeks to strengthen your spine and boost healthy movement in general, so give us a call today if you're ready to get started on the road to a healthier you!
